“Serving free hot meals in a dignified manner to all who seek
40th Anniversary Celebration August 15, 2020
40 years ago Fr. Bill and the Sisters of Mercy answered the call to help God’s less fortunate people and started the first soup kitchen on long island. Though we have had to overcome many challenges throughout the years to this day our 98 daily volunteers continue the mission they started serving a hot nutritious meal and take home food 5 days a week 52 weeks a year. We ask you to join us in honoring the visionaries who answered the call to feed the hungry.
We invite you to join us on August 15, 2020 to help us celebrate 40 years of service to the community.
The night will be full of fun, food, drink, music, and dancing. What better way can we show our appreciation and at the same time help support the current operation of the soup kitchen.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of many good friends, the Knight at the Races last night was a tremendous success.
Our district deputy Charlie Shami along with the grand knights and knights of the 4 districts and many district deputies from other districts worked hard for us for weeks ahead promoting the event and all yesterday afternoon and evening making it happen.
Tom Humel our guiding force designed and produced the race program and with Rob Lodato also from OLoG bough the food and supplies, and cooked and served all our guests.
Carmine Soldano our race guru with the help of his wife Susan kept things entertaining and exciting all night.
Everyone attending had a great time.
No complaints except we “need more chairs at our table”.
It was an exhausting day but well worth it.
The place was packed.
Carmine’s aunt had a table.
Bob Wetter had a table.
Nora’s table was over crowded.
Peppi had a full table.
Ada had 3 full tables.
St. Joseph’s had 3 full tables.
Or lady of Grace had 3 full tables.
My son Tony had 4 full tables.
Just to mention a few; around 200 people total.
People spent a lot of money and had a good time doing it.
Many people who couldn’t come gave us donations.
The lotto board that my wife Pat made took in over $600.
Ada won the 50-50; she won over $1,000 and gave us back $400 of it.
It looks like we did very well.
I hope to have the final tally in a day or two.
As Kenney Rogers said “ You don’t count your money till the deal in’s done”.
Along with the Christmas concert this should help to bring us back financially to where we need to be.
Thanks to all of you for your continued support of our mission.
